Each of the Penelope Penzo dessert/salad plates are made in Limoges France of fine porcelain. The 8.7" plates (Edition 1) are offered in the Mauritius pattern which is a vivid wash of sea blues mixed with all the colors of the sea. There are four dessert/salad plates in this series (three are pictured), each with a different rim and a different fish. As with all the Penzo lines of fine tableware, this series can be mixed and matched for a more vibrant, individualized table.
The sunburst pattern is featured on the first plate. The intricate blues and seagreens on the rim form a nice background to the bright orange and yellow sunburst semicircles. The vivid colors of the single blue and yellow fish complement the sea colors in the rim.
The second picture features a quill design on the rim. Reminiscent of the African coast, the porcupine quill design on the rim mixes nicely with the blacks and whites and other bright colors of the single fish.
The third picture features a touch of red on the rim on the left hand plate. Mixed with the blues and yellows of the amazing sole fish, a touch of deep orange red is most striking in this plate.
The fourth plate on the right has a pretty fan design on the rim. Among the turquoise green sea waves on the rim are leafy fans that dance in the waves. This rim with its blues, yellows and reds complement the vivid colors of the single fish.
All Penelope Penzo Mauritius plates are handwash due to the gold rim along the outer edge. ..
