New Irish Exhibit!
Mar 5, 2007 --

A resident of Charleston, Irish-American artist Annie O'Neill Seibel creates her unique lowcountry art through the prism of her rich heritage.

Her hand-cut silhouettes depict the natural world.    From swaying palm trees and bonsai, to shorebirds and seahorses, each one-of-a-kind piece is created using natural materials such as dried palm fronds, angel-wing pods, and marabou feathers.  The pieces whisper rather than shout.    A subtle hint of color forms the edge of a leaf where the anole sits.    The cygnet swan creates gentle waves as he paddles in his tranquil pond.

For this exhibit, she has included pieces that embody the Irish spirit.    She captures the freshness of the wild Irish rose, the charm of the traditional thatched roof cottage, the joy of an Irish setter and the crashing of waves against the rocks of the Poolbeg Lighthouse .    Her color palette ranges from the bright colors of a Charleston garden to the grey drystone walls of the Irish countryside

Each of Annie's pieces is a signed original and comes with an artist card detailing the materials used.
